Charles Li appointed CEO ANZ China CEO

Dr Charles Li joins ANZ as CEO for China. He came from Royal Bank of Scotland Group, where he was most recently Country Executive and Head of Global Banking Markets for China.

He will be reporting to Gilles Planté, Chairman ANZ China and CEO North East Asia, Europe & America.

“Charles is a well-regarded banking leader who is experienced in building a business and leading a global markets business in China,” said Gilles Planté..

“Since establishing our locally incorporated entity last October we have increased the pace of our expansion, including plans to open a branch in Chongqing and apply for RMB licences to provide local currency products to affluent and emerging affluent individual customers,.” He added.

Charles will commence with ANZ China on 1 February, based in Shanghai. The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals.
