
Chinese commercial banks' NPL ratio below 1%
The non-performing loan ratio in the first quarter for China's commercial banks went down by one percent from last year at 0.9 percent.
According to data from China's Banking Regulatory Commission, the outstanding non-performing loans of the commercial banks stood at US$69.6 billion as of the end of the first quarter.
The commercial banks include large banks, joint-stock banks, city banks, as well as rural commercial banks andforeign-funded banks.
Foreign-funded banks registered the lowest NPL ratio, at 0.5 percent; the NPL ratios for large commercial banks and joint-stock commercial banks stood at 1 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively, the data showed.
