Standard Chartered Bank Taiwan wins in two categories at the ABF Awards

Its retail banking division proves to be one of the top amongst all international banks in Taiwan.

Standard Chartered Bank Taiwan Limited took home both the International Retail Bank of the Year - Taiwan and Digital Banking Initiative of the Year - Taiwan at the recently concluded Retail Banking Awards 2020, presented by Asian Banking and Finance magazine.

The event honours the most outstanding banks and financial institutions that have introduced groundbreaking products and services that empowered them to successfully adapt with the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

Standard Chartered Bank Taiwan’s Retail Banking shows that it deserves its spot as one of the top retail businesses amongst all international banks in Taiwan. With its attractive returns, it continues to grow its franchise in a profitable and cost-effective way whilst successfully navigating current headwinds due to the pandemic and volatile global market conditions.

In 2019, Standard Chartered Bank Taiwan delivered significant growth in both income and operating profits (OP). With the bank’s strategic focus on high-net-wealth and affluent segments, the top-line growth was mainly driven by underlying wealth management (WM) growth, coupled with double digit growth on core lending products.

Moreover, to capture the swift changes in client behaviour and the evolution of financial services, Standard Chartered Taiwan has reinvented its business model along with innovative digital initiatives with its launch of SC Taiwan LINE official account and SC Keyboard Banking in 2019.

The LINE account aims to extend banking services from clients’ fingertips to their social activities. Embedded in SC LINE official account, AI powered chatbot, Stacy, provides 24/7 instant and interactive support with the know-how to fulfil customer requests and solve problems, ranging from latest product offering to credit card payment, and reward points inquiries.

Meanwhile, SC Keyboard Banking is the first ever keyboard based social media payment capability in Taiwan, which allows users to send money and view account balances without interrupting their social moments on messaging apps. The application boasts three key features of this cutting-edge service including seamless client journey, gamification and community, as well as single tap to banking service. The SC Keyboard Banking is said to empower clients’ digital capability in an easy and seamless way and has received broad and positive feedback from clients.

In 2020, Standard Chartered Bank Taiwan notes that it aims to continue to expand partnerships with Fintech/tech/e-commerce companies to build an ecosystem and originate the younger digital adopter segment. It also aims to leverage COVID19-prevention experiences, continue to build a future proof organization via cultivating agile ways of working and building an active learning culture to equip the whole workforce with future skills.
