Chungwa Post provides “buy-now, pay-now” option

Chunghwa Post will provide customers access to a global network of 28 million merchants and 1.4 million ATMs with its Visa Debit program.

Visa Debit cards function like other Visa cards with one key difference – Point-of-Sale purchases and ATM withdrawals are deducted directly from the cardholder's deposit account. By providing cardholders with the control and convenience of a "buy now, pay now" functionality, without the risk of carrying cash, cardholders can better manage their everyday finances.

Chunghwa Post Visa Debit cardholders will also enjoy benefits and privileges that include cash rebates, gasoline discounts and a wide range of travel, dining and healthcare discounts offered by Chunghwa Post and Visa. They can also enter themselves in quarterly lucky draws to win various cash prizes.

It is the first Visa Debit program by a post office in Asia Pacific.

"By linking their accounts directly to the new payment platform, depositors will be able to not only manage their savings and everyday spending more effectively, but will also reap rewards every time they make purchases," said Oliver Yu, Chairman of Chunghwa Post Co. Ltd.
