EFTEX pitches in to aid China UnionPay card's Aussie expansion

The launch of the agreement will enable acceptance of China UnionPay cards at EFTEX connected ATMs in Australia.

According to EFTEX, under the agreement, China UnionPay cardholders will have access to Banktech’s CashConnect ATM Network and Travelex ATMs, along with other ATMs driven by EFTEX.

China UnionPay has over 2.4 billion cards on issue and this arrangement will facilitate convenient access to cash via joint co-operation with EFTEX and local institutions for the growing number of UnionPay cardholders visiting Australia.

Paul Stewart, General Manager EFTEX, said “EFTEX and China UnionPay will be actively looking to expand acceptance in Australia and across the region to support the ever increasing number of Chinese people travelling for business or tourism purposes. We have no doubt that ATM operators and retailers alike will increasingly be drawn to the benefits of China UnionPay acceptance”.
